Google Business Profile is not your website
Google Business Profile (the map listing, the hours in the pack, the reviews) is not a website. A website is not a map listing. They do different jobs. Shops that treat GBP as “our site” end up with a nice pin and nowhere to send people who want more than a star rating. Shops that build a site and skip GBP stay invisible in the pack of results that actual humans tap while driving.
You want both. That is the whole article. The rest is what each one is for, and what we will not pretend to sell you.
What GBP actually does
It answers: are you open, where are you, what do people say, can I call, can I get directions. It is Google’s property. They can suspend it. Categories, service areas, and photos there matter for local search. We do not promise you will rank in the map pack. Nobody honest does, because Google’s local pack is not a title tag you control.
GBP also wants a website field. If that field is empty, or it points at a Facebook wall, or it points at a site whose form 404s, you wasted the click the map just earned. The listing’s job is to hand the stranger to you. The site’s job is to catch them.
What the website does
The site is the page you own. Full story, real photos, services you actually offer, a form that notifies tampasbestdj@gmail.com, a tap-to-call number that is not hidden behind “send message,” a title and meta description and Open Graph image. That is basic SEO. It is not a #1 prize. It is the tags so the page is not named “Home.”
Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. Most standard jobs finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. Not ecommerce carts, apps, or member portals at this price. If you only need hours and a phone, the $27 one-page can be the URL you paste into GBP. +$27 lifetime hosting on our server if you want it ($54).
| Job | GBP | Your website |
|---|---|---|
| Map / directions / “near me” | Yes — that is the product | Can include a map; does not replace the listing |
| Reviews | Yes | You can mention them; you do not own Google’s stars |
| Full services, gallery, form | Cramped | Yes |
| You control the URL | No | Yes, if you bought the domain |
| Works if Google suspends the listing | No | Yes |
Use them together
Claim the profile. Put the real hours. Put the real phone. Put the real address or the real service area — not the whole state. Then put the website you actually want people to see in the website field. Same NAP (name, address, phone) on both. If the hours disagree, customers believe neither.
We can build the site. We can help you point the domain. We are not a “we’ll get you 50 five-star reviews” shop. We will not sell local SEO as a ranking package. Bill is in Tampa; the shop works worldwide, 24/7. Phone 813-451-2204. $100 down starts the $1,000 job; the $500 sale is pay-in-full by September 30, 2026 only.
If your GBP already points at something, check that URL before you touch the listing. Fix the landing, then update the field. Do not point a good listing at a dead page.
Free next step: paste the URL currently in your Google listing. Then pay $500* if that URL is the problem.
