Websites fail on boring things

Cheap Fast Websites · updated August 25, 2026

Websites fail on boring things. Not on the absence of a parallax hero. Not on the wrong font. A customer gives you five seconds. In that window they look for a lock icon, a phone they can tap, a form that does not 404, and a photo that could actually be you. Miss those and the custom illustration does not matter. We see the same four failures over and over — on Wix, on WordPress, on something a cousin built in 2017.

Fix the boring things before you buy a “rebrand.” If the boring things are broken because you do not have the keys, that is a rebuild, not a patch. Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026.

The form, the phone, the lock

The form 404s. Or it submits into a black hole. Or the thank-you page is a builder demo. A stranger just told you they want work and the site ate it. Forms on this shop notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com. We test them before we call a site live. If your current form has never been tested on a phone, test it now. If you are the only person who ever filled it, it does not count.

No tap-to-call. The number is in an image. The number is in a footer in 9px gray. The number is “contact us” that opens a chat widget nobody staffs. On a parked-car phone, that is a closed business. Put the phone in the first screen as a real link. 813-451-2204 is how this shop does it — visible, tappable, a human.

No lock icon. HTTP, expired SSL, a browser interstitial that says “not secure.” People leave. They should. Hosting setup on a job here includes the certificate so the padlock shows. If your host let it lapse, that is a host ticket, not a new logo.

Stock photos and other tells

Stock skyline of a city you do not live in. Stock handshake. Stock plate of food you do not cook. Stock construction helmet on a stock roof. Customers know. Use phone photos of the real room, the real truck, the real haircut. Ugly and true beats pretty and fake.

Other tells: hours from a previous tenant, a map pin on the old suite, “© 2019,” music that autoplays, a popup before the phone number, lorem ipsum on the About page, a Facebook embed that is blank because the page went down. Each one says “nobody is home.”

A ten-second test

Open the site on your phone, on cellular, not wifi. Start a timer. Can you call in ten seconds. Can you submit the form with a dummy message. Do you see a lock. Do the photos look like the business you run. If four answers are no, you do not have a design problem. You have a “this is not a website yet” problem.

Run the free check if you want a second pair of eyes on those basics. If the bones work, patch them. If you cannot log in, or the builder will not export, or the form has been dead since the last freelancer vanished, buy the rebuild. Most standard jobs here finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. $100 down starts the $1,000 job; that is not the sale. $500 is pay-in-full by September 30, 2026. One page only is $27, +$27 lifetime hosting on our server. Worldwide, 24/7. Not a cart, not an app, not a member portal at this price.

Look at live work if you want to see pages that pass the ten-second test. Then decide. Do not spend another year hoping the form started working on its own.
