Contact path
If the form is dead, you do not have a website. You have a poster.
A pretty site with a dead form is a closed shop. The visitor did the work. They typed a name, a number, what is broken. They hit send. Then a 404, a spinner that never ends, a thank-you page that is still the builder demo, or silence in your inbox. They will not retry. They will hire the next shop whose page said “got it.” The hours can be right. The photos can be real. If the contact path is dead, you do not have a website. You have a poster.
Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. A standard marketing site here includes a contact path that actually works: tap-to-call on the first screen, a form that notifies an inbox you check, or the buttons you already answer. Not a cart. Not an app. Not a members area. Those get a quote. Most standard jobs finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear.
How to tell it is broken
Do this on a phone, on cellular, not on the shop Wi-Fi. A form that works on the office network and dies on LTE is still broken. Send a dummy with the word TEST in it. Use a number and an email you can see immediately. If you are the only person who ever filled it, it does not count. If the last test was the day the freelancer launched it in 2019, it does not count.
- Tap the phone number. If it is a picture of a business card, it will not dial. It has to be a real
tel:link. This shop’s number is 813-451-2204 — visible, tappable, labeled Cheap Fast Websites. That is the bar. - Submit the form. Did a thank-you load? Did mail arrive within a minute? Check spam. Check the address you think it sends to. Forms on this shop notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com. Yours should notify an inbox you actually open.
- If it is a mailto link, try it on a phone with no mail app set up. That is a lot of phones. Mailto is a compromise, not a form.
- If a chat bubble opens, type something. If a bot asks three questions and then ghosts you, the bubble is a closed sign. Read chat vs a form.
- If “contact us” is only a Facebook message button, try it logged out. Work phones block it. People who deleted the app cannot use it.
Form versus phone is not a personality test. You usually need both. A stranger in a parked car wants a number they can tap. A stranger at a desk, or after hours, wants a box they can type into. Kill either path and you drop a slice of the work you already paid to attract. The longer version is form vs phone.
Why forms die
The inbox filled up. The host changed a mail setting. The old plugin stopped talking to the new PHP. The freelancer used their own email as the destination and then vanished. The thank-you URL was a preview link that expired. A CAPTCHA started failing on Safari. You moved off a builder and nobody rewired the post. You “redesigned” and the button still points at /contact-old. None of this is mysterious. It is why a site you never test is a site that quietly closed.
| What you see | What it usually is | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 404 after send | Thank-you URL is wrong or the script is gone | Fix the action, or rebuild the form |
| Spinner forever | JavaScript error, blocked third-party, or a dead endpoint | Test on cellular. If it never arrives, it is dead |
| Thank-you, no mail | Wrong destination, full inbox, spam, or a fake success page | Send a dummy. Watch the real inbox |
| Number is a photo | Someone designed a card, not a link | Put digits in a tel: link on the first screen |
| Chat “we’re here” at 1 a.m. | Unstaffed widget | Take it off. Leave a form and the truth about callback time |
| Forty fields on a phone | A bounce machine | Name, phone, town, what is broken. Stop |
A form is a structured voicemail. It has one job: arrive. If you will not read a long questionnaire tonight, do not put one on the page. “How did you hear about us” is a bounce. If you never check email, do not add a form. Use the phone and say so. A dead inbox is worse than no site. If you already live in Jobber, Square, Vagaro, or a shared inbox, point the form there. Do not invent a second desk you will ignore.
What we wire on a job here
The contact path is part of the brief: the number you actually answer, whether you want a form, where that mail should land, and whether a booking or quote tool already exists. We test it on a phone before we call a site live. We will not add a CRM, a ticket queue, a chatbot that “qualifies leads,” or a members login so customers can “track their request” at this price. If the current form is the only thing broken and the rest of the page works, you may not need a rebuild. Run the free check first. If the form 404s, the number is a picture, or the guy who built it took the login, rebuild. Designer disappeared.
Standard marketing site: $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. Sale is pay-in-full only. $100 down starts the $1,000 job ($900 due). That is not the sale. If all you need is hours, a phone, and a working button this weekend, the $27 one-page is the floor. You host it, or +$27 lifetime hosting on our server ($54). A pretty one-pager with a dead button is the same failure as an $8,000 site with a dead button.
Basic SEO is a title, a meta description, and Open Graph. We do not promise the form will make you rank. We promise the form will send. HTTPS belongs on the page too — a lock icon that is missing is another reason people will not type a phone number. The lock. Copy on the first screen should tell them what happens next: we call back next business day, if that is true. Copy that gets calls. Wrong hours next to a working form still burn a Saturday. Wrong hours.
Worldwide, 24/7. After you pay, you still have to send the number and the inbox. The clock does not start on a mystery destination. What happens after you pay. Live work: /work/ — Dodo, Pets Helping Pets, Tampa’s Best DJ, LazerMerch, petcalendar.pet, US Helping the World. This shop’s own sites. Hire: /hire/.
Free next step: paste your current URL and see whether a customer can actually reach you in five seconds. Then pay $500* if you want the form and the phone rebuilt so they work.
