Leaving a builder

Leaving Wix is a rebuild. Price it that way.

Cheap Fast Websites · updated August 25, 2026

Leaving Wix is a rebuild. Anyone who tells you it is an “export and go” is selling a hope. Wix is a good product. It is also a mall kiosk: easy to open, hard to own, and you pay rent. The editor, the template, the blog, the store apps — they live on Wix’s machines. You get a login. You do not get a box of files you can drop on Bluehost on a Sunday and keep the same site.

That is not a moral failing. It is how builders work. Squarespace, GoDaddy Website Builder, and Canva sites are the same shape. You design inside their walls. You leave, you start over. Price that on day one, not the day you are angry. If you opened this tab because the monthly bill feels like a second rent, or the editor will not do the one thing you need, this is the honest version of the move.

Read Wix vs hiring someone if you are still deciding whether to stay. This page is for the people who already decided to leave.

What you actually keep

The domain, if you bought it. yourname.com is a name at a registrar. It is not the Wix site. You can point it somewhere else. That click is yours. We will tell you what to type. We will not steal the name. DNS is not instant. The old Wix page can hang around for a chunk of a day while nameservers catch up. That is normal. It is not “the internet is broken.”

You also keep the photos you uploaded, if you download them. You keep the copy if you paste it into a document before you cancel. You keep the Google Business Profile, the reviews, the phone number, the customers. Wix never owned those. What you do not keep is the layout as a portable website. Export tools give you something. They do not give you the site.

What leaving quietly costs

Time you will not get back if you try to rebuild it yourself in the next builder. “I’ll just knock it out this weekend” is how a lot of businesses spend three weekends and still have a lorem-ipsum About page. We have said that about Wix as a DIY tool. It is also true as an exit plan.

Money you already spent on the template, the apps, and the yearly plan does not transfer. That is rent. Rent does not become a down payment on the next apartment. Two or three years of $20–$40 a month is $240–$480 a year. You have paid for a $500* site and you still do not own a portable codebase. That is the comparison. It is not a coupon.

If you like the editor and you will actually log in next month, stay. Leaving for sport is a waste. Leave because you are done being the IT person, the template looks like every other Wix page in the zip code, or you want files that survive a cancelled subscription.

How a rebuild here actually runs

Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. That is a marketing website: custom layout, your photos, a phone that works on a thumb, a form that arrives, title and meta tags, hosting setup, help pointing the domain, one round of changes. Most finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. We do not clone your Wix theme pixel for pixel. We take the business — name, hours, services, photos — and put it on a page that is not a rental.

It is not Shopify, a member portal, or an app. Those get a separate quote. Basic SEO is a title, a meta description, and Open Graph. We do not promise #1 on Google. We do not sell a national prize for “best Wix migration.” If the old Wix site is already doing the job — lock icon, tap-to-call, a form that you have tested — stay. Run the free check first. A pretty rebuild of a working contact path is a vanity project.

$100 down starts the $1,000 job ($900 due before launch). That is not the sale. The $500 price is only if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. If all you need is hours, phone, and three pictures this weekend, skip the full path and use the $27 one-page — +$27 if you want it hosted on our server for life ($54). Keep the domain. You do not need Wix to keep the name.

What we need from you: the Wix URL, the words you still like, phone photos of the real place, the registrar login in your hands (not emailed to a stranger), and a yes on where hosting should live. Bluehost is what this shop already uses. Your host is fine if it can serve ordinary files. You still attach the domain. Phone 813-451-2204 if you want a human in your ear while you click. Forms notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com.

Look at live work if you want to see the difference between a builder template and a page this shop shipped. Labeled samples of trades — fictional shops, not fake street addresses — sit at /examples/. Worldwide, 24/7. Cancel Wix after the new form works on a phone. Not the morning you pay.

Free next step: paste the Wix URL and see the ten basics a customer notices in five seconds. Then pay $500* if you want it rebuilt as a site you can actually move.
