Directories vs a site
A directory listing is a rental. A website is the house.
Yellow Pages used to be the whole marketing plan: a name, a number, a category. The book is thinner. The apps kept the idea. Yelp, Dex, Angi, Thumbtack, “directories” your cousin sold you — they are listings. They are not a URL you own. When the listing dies, or the category tax goes up, you have nothing to point a card at.
Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. We do not sell directory ads. We sell the page a listing should link to. If every job already comes from one app and you answer in five minutes, stay. If a stranger asked for a website and you sent a Yelp URL, keep reading.
What each one actually is
| Directory / Yellow Pages | A website you own | |
|---|---|---|
| Who controls the page | Them | You, at the registrar |
| Cost | Often monthly, plus “featured” upsells | $1,000 once, $500* pay-in-full by Sept 30, 2026, or $27 for a page |
| Hours and photos | If you remember to log in | On the first screen if you send them |
| When the account dies | The shop looks closed | The URL is still there |
| SEO in the job | Their rules | Title, meta, Open Graph. Not a #1 prize |
Google Business Profile is the modern listing that actually matters for a lot of local shops. It is still not a website. You want both. GBP plus a real website. Same shape as Facebook vs a website and Nextdoor vs a website — a rental vs a house.
When a listing is enough
- You are testing a name for 60 days.
- Every customer already has your cell and only needed the category once.
- The “business” is a weekend stall with no domain yet.
When it is not: a bank, insurer, or venue asks for a website. A parent wants hours without an app. You are paying a directory $200/month for a “featured” slot that still 404s your own URL. Put the $200 toward a page you keep. A $27 one-page is cheaper than one month of a boosted listing.
What we put on the page
Who you are, what you do, how to reach you. Links to the listings you actually use. We will not scrape fake reviews into the site. We will not invent “#1 in the book” badges. Pay on /sale/. Brief. Draft. One revision. Most standard jobs under 72 hours when the brief is clear.
$100 down starts the $1,000 job — not the sale. Phone 813-451-2204. Forms notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com. Not a cart, app, or members portal at this price. Hire: /hire/. Live work: /work/. Worldwide, 24/7. Bill is in Tampa / Zephyrhills. No public storefront. Florida towns: /where/.
