A template is a grid. Custom is a brief you do not have to design.
“Custom vs template” is a muddy fight because both sides lie a little. Every site uses a layout. Nobody draws each pixel from nothing at this price. A ThemeForest demo, a Wix skin, and a page built from your brief are still not the same hire. One is a grid you move furniture around in. One is a login you rent. One is files, your photos, a contact path, and a person who proofs the draft before a customer is told it is live.
Cheap Fast Websites sells a standard marketing site for $1,000, or $500* if you pay in full by September 30, 2026. Custom here means: we build a marketing site from what you send, not from a demo you are supposed to learn. It does not mean a unique art object, a hand-coded animation, or a theme nobody else on earth could resemble. It means you are not the designer. Most standard jobs finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. Worldwide, 24/7. Phone 813-451-2204.
What “template” usually means
A WordPress theme from a marketplace. A Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, or Canva preset. A Fiverr gig that is the same layout with your logo dropped in. You pick a demo that looks like a dentist, a restaurant, or a lawyer. Then you spend the weekend swapping placeholder copy. The type is fine. The pictures are stock. The phone is often a picture of a number. Leaving is a rebuild. You were renting a look.
Templates are not a sin. They are a starting grid. If you like the editor and you will actually finish the About page, a template can be enough. Keep it. Do not hire us to babysit a tool you enjoy. If the template is still saying “Welcome to our website” in month two, the grid did not fail. The second job failed. Read Canva as a homepage and leaving Wix if that is the mess you are in. Same shape at Squarespace and GoDaddy Website Builder.
- A template you will maintain: stay. Run the free check first. If the phone is tappable and the form arrives, you may already be done.
- A template you hoped would finish itself: that is a hire, not another theme.
- A ThemeForest install on a host you do not understand: you bought a box of parts. Parts are not a site.
- A “customized template” from a gig: ask whether you get the files. If the answer is a login, you bought a rental with extra invoices.
What custom means at this shop
| Typical template / builder | Standard job here | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | A demo for a generic trade | Your name, sentence, photos, hours, phone |
| Who designs | You, inside their editor | Us. One round of changes on a full layout |
| What you own | Usually a login | Files on Bluehost or a host you control |
| Speed | Whenever you stop tinkering | Usually under 72 hours if the brief is clear |
| Year-one cash | Theme + host + plan + your hours | $500* once, or $27 for a simple page |
| SEO in the job | A toggle, often sold as ranking | Title, meta, Open Graph. No #1 prize |
| Cart / app / members | Add-ons, more rent | Not at this price — we quote those |
We will not clone a ThemeForest dentist demo pixel for pixel and call it custom. We take the business — name, hours, services, photos — and put it on a page that is not a rental. Hosting setup and help pointing the domain are in the job. You still click at the registrar. We do not steal the name. See who owns the files. Hire path: /hire/.
The brief is the same whether you are leaving a template or starting from a Facebook page. Name, one sentence, photos of the real work, the current URL if any, domain or host. Stock from the theme pack is how every “customized template” in the zip code looks identical. Phone pictures of the actual room beat a demo kitchen. Waiting a week on photos is how it stops being 72 hours. “Can it also be an app” is a different quote. We will say so. See what to send.
How to choose without a branding lecture
If you wanted a look you can rearrange every Friday without emailing anyone, a template in a builder is the honest product. Pay the rent on purpose. If you wanted the page to exist so you can go back to the actual work, buy the done-for-you site. If all you need is hours, phone, and three photos, skip both speeches and buy the $27 pack. You host it. +$27 lifetime hosting on our server if you want it ($54). That is a simple page from an interview, not a custom marketing layout.
$100 down starts the $1,000 job ($900 due). That is not the sale. $500 is pay-in-full by September 30, 2026 only. Not a payment plan. A cart, app, or members portal is a different quote. Basic SEO is tags. We do not promise #1 on Google for a page that used to be a template. Nobody honest will.
